Angela, Chloe, Charlotte, Emma, and I all wanted to thank you for being such as great partner as we worked to bring a new member into our family; our boy Major.
We brought Major into our home on November 27, 2018 and have been so delighted at his uncommonly sweet disposition, calm demeanor, and superior intelligence. We are so pleased with him and really appreciate your extra efforts to help us match the right dog to our family and the wishes we shared with you early on in the process. It’s really clear to us that Major came from extremely quality parents as well as a caring, thorough, and loving environment in your home for eight weeks.
It was clear to us early on that we made the right choice in working with you. After we found out that Piper was expecting her litter, you were great about giving updates directly to us as well as updating your website/Facebook. Moreover, after the pups came on October 2, you were fantastic about posting updates for us to see the entire crew! We loved it and all of your posts made it obvious the high degree of care you had for the pups.
Our family came to you from a referral from another happy family that received one of Piper’s pups. After working with you since spring and seeing how you interact with your dogs as well as the manner in which you responsively handled our questions, we will eagerly refer you to anyone we come across that’s interested in a quality golden retriever.
Ron, thank you again for all you’ve done for us and we eagerly await spending our Christmas with Major as well as many years of his companionship. I wanted to take a minute and thank you for your professional handling in regard to breeding my three females last fall to Xander. I appreciate that you were ready when I needed you. The puppies that those three girls and Xander produced were exceptional! They were extremely sweet natured, their bodies were wonderfully proportioned and their bites were beautiful. They were wonderful puppies and I cannot say enough about their great temperaments and appearance. Very very sweet and very gentle. VERY biddable!!!

If you are considering a Golden I can tell you that we have had a great experience with Ron & Stacie. I got my first puppy Crash from them in 2007 and then my second Burn in 2009, the fact that we have stayed in touch all this time I think speaks to the relationship. Looking back at the decision to get a puppy from them years ago what I remember most is that they expressed as much interest in making sure the puppies where going to a good home as I did making sure it was a fit for me. With each pup we made countless trips with multiple family and friends to see them before we could bring them home. They could not have been more accommodating.
My dogs as I hope you can see in the pictures are full of life and a great part of our life. Both my boys are healthy full size Golden’s but have no doubt they are 100% confident they are also lap dogs.

In 2011 we lost a family member of 14 years. He was the best dog a family could ask for; he was kind, gentle and protective. He made us feel safe, yet he was such a loving dog. When he passed away we weren’t sure another dog was a good idea. I mean, how could we find another ‘Jake’? Over the next year or two we looked around on websites, researched dog breeds, breeders and shelters, but nothing came up until I received some suggestions from my co-workers on quality Golden Retriever breeders. I had narrowed my search down to either a lab or golden retriever, as I think they are among the best dogs for a family with kids, so I contacted several suggested breeders and ended up working with Ron and Stacie Rousey from Heyworth. The criteria I used to determine the breeder was trust, relationship, and quality breed – Ron and Stacie met all 3. They immediately gained my trust by providing several references who all praised Ron and Stacie. We built a positive relationship over the next several months. In our special case, a litter would be available mid-December so I asked Ron for a favor, would it be possible for them to hold our puppy until Christmas morning so we could surprise our kids. If you know breeders this does not happen very often, but Ron and Stacie accommodated our ask. Wow! In addition, every time I would email Ron with literally hundreds of questions, he’d fire an email back answering every one of my questions, and the tone in his responses was kind and considerate. I could tell he was passionate about his Golden Retrievers. Finally, they breed quality Golden Retrievers. They met all the requirements and are very selective with their breeding. This level of care and consideration and raising the bar for the Golden Retriever breed is rare and we feel blessed to have found Ron and Stacie, and add one of their Goldens to our family. We’ve had Gus since Christmas morning, 2014 and he’s been AWESOME! He’s healthy, playful, smart, loving, great with our kids, did I say loving. We receive compliments from family, friends and neighbors on how beautiful Gus is. I’ve heard stories from other Golden Retriever owners and they mention having the hardest time trying to walk their dog, but Gus is the best walker. I haven’t taught him a thing; he’s a natural. Hi Matt,
I wanted to send you a quick email to let you know what an amazing experience we had working with the Rousey family and continue to have to this day, after owning our Golden for 4 plus years. We absolutely could not have asked for a better breeder and litter for our golden to come from. The demeanor and mannerism of our golden has been a truly rewarding experience and that dog is an absolute true member of our family. We have 3 children, and each and every morning, they are so excited to wake up and see Harley (our golden’s name) and hug and cuddle with that dog. I personally cannot imagine not having him. He has been an amazing friend and companion to me personally. The communication and support from Ron and his family are nothing but the best. To this day, I consider them extremely good friends and someone I can call upon any time.
It is so awesome when I talk in our community about Harley, or show photos of him on Facebook, and others ask where I got him, and I say, Ron and so forth. And then the comments come how others have gotten dogs from Ron or have a sibling from another litter and how fortunate they are in their experience.
Anyhow, I am a photographer and this made me pull out a puppy photo and a now photo of our Harley – just so much life in this dog. I cannot imagine my life without him. So completely special……….hope you have a great experience like we did. It doesn’t stop…..we are looking into our next one in a year or 2……..from Ron specifically……….
